  • Print Index Page (Under Assigned Readings) with your name and class information
  • Separate portfolio into sections (notes, response papers, essays, etc.) 
  • Include all work submitted throughout semester 


Write: Short Reflective Essay (1-2 Pages)
  • Tell me what you have learned in class, the most important thing. (Be Specific)
  • How has your writing changed
  • How did you view reading and writing before, how do you view it now?
  • How do you plan to use what you learned in the future?

  • Include parenthetical citations

  • Must have thesis, must have argument, topic sentences
  • Must provide academic research

  • ·         Bring me 3 ACADEMIC sources that are related to your topic

  • Several of you didn't turn in your Gender Studies assignment/ and or haven't completed it. I will be discussing your options.
  • Take the time that I give you in class to workshop your essay! It's your grade on the line.

Your topic can be anything related to Gender Studies.

Use the definitions (patriarchy, matriarchy, feminist theory, Marxist theory, double standards, biases, etc...) we discussed in class if it applies to your topic including a way to theorize (bigger idea) about your topic (critical theory).

Group Assignment:  Read "Pedagogy of Poverty Versus Good Teaching" - Martin Haberman
Presentation: 5-8 min 

Begin to critically analyze the text (construct/build meaning). 
You are not summarizing the essay to present. 
Pick something specific within the article that you wish to discuss as a group.  
You have the autonomy of presenting anyway you want

Medium:
  • If you are using multi-media, please bring device to use in class that can be used with projector(ex. laptop computer)
  • If using power point, save in USB drive
  • If using YouTube, keep to minimal 
  • If handing out material, please make sufficient copies

Rubric:
  • Everyone must participate
  • I will be providing FEEDBACK for each individual group
  • ORIGINALITY of presentation will be taken into account
  • Looking for thoughtful ANALYSIS and interpretations of the TEXT (Article)   

ESSAY:
